On Retreat with The Rev. Ron Rolheiser, omi Over the past few years Oblate Media and Communications have
released several presentations - using a DVD format - given by Ron Rolheiser,
renowned author, teacher and theologian. The topics of these presentations
are engaging, and seem to “speak” to participants of any age. Due to the amount of information contained in each presentation, these DVD’s are frequently paused, to allow participants the opportunity to reflect on the material presented, respond to questions that invite them to reflect on how this material relates to their own lives, and engage in small group discussion. Each participant is given a detailed handout that summarizes the content of the presentation.
Ronald Rolheiser, a Roman
Catholic priest and member of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate
(OMI), is president of the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, Texas.
He is a community-builder, lecturer and writer. His books are popular
throughout the English-speaking world and his weekly column is carried by
more than sixty newspapers worldwide. Living
in the Image and Likeness of God We are created in the
image and likeness of God, but how often do we think about that? What does it
really mean in terms of our day-to-day lives and in our search for the
divine? In this DVD retreat The Rev. Ron Rolheiser takes us on a three-part
journey through the scriptures - specifically the Gospels - and the writings
of theologians and scholars to describe the “Struggles inherent in our
Blessedness.” Ron Rolheiser shows us our naiveté regarding the power of this
Blessedness, how it can be a source of perpetual disquiet and restlessness,
and finally, how to live with the “Divine Fire” inside of us. As always,
Ron’s charm, humour and scholarship make this presentation a memorable one
for all those seeking a greater depth and understanding of their faith. This retreat is offered in three parts, each session a minimum
of two hours in length. This DVD is paused throughout the viewing to give
participants time to reflect on the content, answer questions and participate
in small group discussions. A detailed handout summarizes the content of the
presentation and suggests questions for personal reflection and small group
discussion. This retreat can be offered in a church from Friday evening –
Saturday until 3pm, at an even slower pace as a weekend retreat at a retreat
centre, and can be offered at any time of the year. |
