Congregational Development Workshop

This full-day workshop is an engaging starting point for those who sit on Parish Councils, Sessions or Church Boards of Directors. Insights into how to further the growth of your congregation will help leaders plan future events with more confidence. This workshop has been presented to the key leaders of Duncan United Church, Duncan in 2007, St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Campbell River in 2008, and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Victoria in 2009.

1. Church sizes, and how we transition from one size to another.

Family-size; Pastoral-size; Program-size and Corporate-size churches.

2. Keys to an Effective Church: Growing a Vibrant and Healthy Congregation

·        A Motivational Match in Strong, Healthy Congregations vs. A Motivational Gap in Weak, Declining and Dying Congregations

·        The Diversity of the Members in our Congregation: Excellent Sprinters and Marathon Runners

·        The Nature of Mission in Our Time

·        The Nuts and Bolts: Accessibility, Visibility, Landscaping, Signs, Parking, Space and Facilities

3. Twelve Keys for a Strong, Healthy Congregation

4. Group discussion: Applying the above concepts to the current situation and future plans of your church.

Thank you Sarah for your calm, quiet, thoughtful manner. We saw ourselves reflected in your words.

Jim Kempling, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Victoria BC

I most appreciated the open and candid spirit and the delivery of the message from Sarah. Everything was wonderful and as is too often the case time passed too quickly. Thoroughly enjoyed the day – thank you!
